In true Pop fashion, Lichtenstein's quasi-medium was the popular comic book/cartoon strip.  When seen up close, it is apparent that, as in newspaper comic strips, the printing is even slightly off and imperfect. There is a definite element of humor and irony in Lichtenstein's work. In M-Maybe, what the girl is thinking is obviously a reference to art, as evidenced by the word 'studio,' and not the traditional comic subject matter of superheroes and blonde bombshells.
